Tirana Airport Terminal Map & Layout

Tirana Airport operates through a single modern terminal building that was opened in 2007 and expanded in 2009. The terminal handles all passenger traffic — both international and limited domestic operations — across two levels. Departures occupy the upper level, while arrivals are processed on the ground floor.

The terminal building houses 29 check-in counters on the departures level, a central security screening checkpoint, and 7 boarding gates (numbered Gate 1 through Gate 7) in the airside area. Self-service check-in kiosks are available for passengers without checked baggage. The Aelia Duty Free store, multiple restaurants and cafés, and the TIA Business Lounge are all located past security in the airside departures zone.

Arrivals Level (Ground Floor)

After disembarking, passengers descend to the ground floor for passport control. Albanian and EU citizens can use dedicated fast-track lanes, while other nationalities proceed through staffed immigration desks. Baggage claim follows immediately after immigration — electronic flight information displays above each carousel indicate which belt serves your flight.

The customs area uses a green and red channel system. Walk through the green channel if you have nothing to declare, or use the red channel when carrying goods above the duty-free allowance. After clearing customs, you will find ATMs, a Vodafone SIM card store, and the arrivals information desk near the main exit doors. Taxis, airport buses, and car rental pickup areas are immediately outside the arrivals hall.

Departures Level (Upper Floor)

The departures level is where you enter the terminal. All 29 check-in counters line the main hall, with electronic displays showing which counters serve each airline and flight. Self-service kiosks speed the process for passengers without checked bags.

After checking in, proceed through the central security screening area to reach the airside zone. Once past security, all 7 boarding gates are within a 5-minute walk. This post-security area includes the Aelia Duty Free shop, restaurants, and cafés, the VIP lounge near the gates, and a designated smoking terrace.

Tirana Airport Parking Map

The airport provides 2,600 parking spaces across three zones, all within walking distance of the terminal — no shuttle buses are needed.

P1 (Short-Term Parking) is directly opposite the terminal entrance, just a 2-minute walk away. This is the most convenient option for quick pickups and drop-offs. P2 (Long-Term Parking) sits adjacent to P1 and connects to the terminal via a covered walkway — ideal for multi-day trips. P3 (Economy Parking) is an outdoor lot approximately 5 minutes on foot from the terminal via a covered path, offering the most affordable rates.

Free motorcycle parking is available in a designated area near the main entrance, and reserved disabled parking spaces are located closest to the terminal doors. For current rates, booking options, and payment methods, visit our Tirana Airport parking guide.

Ground Transport Map & Pickup Points

All ground transport options at Tirana Airport are accessible directly outside the arrivals exit on the ground floor.

Taxis: Exit the arrivals hall and turn right. The official taxi rank operated by Auto Holiday Albania is approximately 20 meters ahead. Yellow taxis operate 24/7 with fixed fares — a ride to central Tirana costs around 2,500 ALL (€22–25) and takes 20–30 minutes.

Airport Bus: Exit arrivals and turn left. The Airport Express bus operated by LUNA shpk departs every hour around the clock. Buses run to the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in central Tirana. The journey takes 30 minutes and costs 400 ALL (approximately €3.50).

Car Rental: Rental company desks (Hertz, Europcar, Avis, and local operators) are inside the arrivals hall immediately after customs. Rental vehicle parking is in a dedicated area adjacent to the P1 lot, and company representatives escort you to your car.

Private Transfers & Hotel Shuttles: Pre-booked private transfer drivers meet passengers at the arrivals gate with a name sign. Hotel shuttle pickup points are located at various spots outside the terminal building.

Terminal Facilities & Services Map

Essential services are distributed across both levels of the terminal. Free WiFi covers the entire building with no dead zones.

ATMs are available in three locations: the arrivals hall (3 machines), the departures check-in hall (2 machines), and the airside gate area (2 machines). Currency exchange counters operate in both the arrivals hall and the airside departures zone.

Information desks are staffed in the center of the departures hall and near the arrivals exit. Staff speak English and Albanian and can provide printed Tirana airport terminal maps in multiple languages. A first aid station is located on the departures level near the security checkpoint, and a prayer room is available in the airside area between Gates 3 and 4. Charging stations are built into the seating areas at all gates and in both main halls. The Lost & Found office is on the ground floor near the arrivals exit.
