Arrivals Level (Ground Floor)

International passengers descend to ground level after disembarking. Passport control comes first—Albanian citizens enjoy dedicated fast lanes. EU and Schengen passport holders typically process quickly through automated gates when available. Other nationalities queue at staffed immigration desks.

Baggage claim follows immigration. Multiple carousels distribute luggage—electronic screens indicate which carousel serves your flight. The customs area separates into green and red channels. Walk through green when you've got nothing to declare. Use red if you're carrying goods exceeding duty-free limits.

Departures Level

Enter the terminal at departures level. Check-in counters line the main hall—29 positions serve various airlines. Electronic displays show which counters handle each flight. Self-service kiosks speed the process for passengers without checked bags.

After checking in, head through security screening. Modern equipment processes passengers efficiently. Once past security, you'll enter the airside area where all seven boarding gates wait. Duty-free shopping, restaurants, and the VIP lounge occupy this post-security zone.

Official taxi service by Auto Holiday Albania operates from stands outside the arrivals exit. Yellow taxis wait 24/7. Fixed rates eliminate price negotiation—expect around 2,500 Albanian Lek (€22-25) to central Tirana. The journey takes 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.

Bus Station

Airport Express buses operated by LUNA shpk depart from designated stops outside arrivals. Service runs every hour, 24 hours daily. Buses terminate at Tirana National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in the city center. Journey time averages 30 minutes. Tickets cost 400 Lek (€3.50).

Car Rental Area

Major rental companies maintain desks in the arrivals hall. Hertz, Europcar, Avis, and local operators serve customers immediately after customs. Parking for rental vehicles occupies a dedicated zone adjacent to P1. Representatives escort customers to their reserved vehicles.

Access Roads & Highways

Highway infrastructure improved dramatically when the new A1 motorway opened in 2024. This connection, managed by the Albanian Road Authority (ARrSh), links the airport to Tirana's ring road system efficiently. Clear signage guides drivers from both northern and southern approaches.
